Chengdu, I Love You

The two-part Chengdu, I Love You is a love letter to the titular city after the Sichuan province was struck by the deadly earthquake 2 years ago. Veteran musician Cui Jian makes his directorial debut with the futuristic first segment, 2029. It blends rock music, martial arts and sci-fi special effects to tell a story that began with the 2008 earthquake. Acclaimed director Fruit Chan helms the second part, titled 1976, about a manic young tea house master who falls for his waitress during the Cultural Revolution.
